Joakim Larsson among the most cited researchers in the world

News: Dec 01, 2018

Clarivate Analytics has announced their 2018 list of the most highly cited and influential researchers in the world. Five University Gothenburg researchers are on the list, including a new name: Joakim Larsson, professor at Sahlgrenska Academy and director of the Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research, CARe.

Clarivate Analytics, the company behind Web of Science, has published it’s annual Highly Cited Researchers (HCR). Clarivate lists some 4,000 researchers around the globe who have consistently won recognition in the form of high citation counts over a decade, and therefore are in the top 1% by citations for their field.

This year, a new cross-field category has been added to recognize researchers with substantial influence in several fields but who do not have enough highly cited papers in any one field to be chosen. This category includes about 2,000 researchers, and Joakim Larsson is one of them.

“Although number of citation is just one of several indicators to assess influence, I’m pleased to see that Clarify now also includes researchers with a cross-field profile”, Joakim Larsson says.

The vision of CARe, Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research at the University of Gothenburg, is to limit mortality, morbidity and socioeconomic costs related to antibiotic resistance on a global scale through research.

CARe offers diverse expertise representing six faculties and a broad network of stakeholders within the health care sector and beyond to generate state-of-the-art science with the intention to support rapid revision of policies and their implementation.
