Supplementary program for doctors, dentists and nurses from non-EU countries

The University of Gothenburg offers supplementary programs for doctors, dentists and nurses.

The Government has asked the University of Gothenburg, Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University and Lund University to offer supplementary programs for individuals who have degrees in medicine, dentistry or nursing from non-EU countries (with the exception of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland).

All programs begin each fall semester, provided that resources have been appropriated.

Enrolment and admissions

Enroll in the various programs at www.antagning.se
The enrollment period is March 16 to April 15.

Here are the program codes you need in order to apply for fall semester 2015.
Medical program: GU-10698
Dental program: GU-10899
Nursing program: GU-10330
Don’t forget to enclose the form "Meritförteckning" along with documents that verify that you meet the entry requirements, as well as other qualifications you wish to cite.

Upload grades, certificates, etc., at www.antagning.se or send them by snail mail along with your application to:

Keep in mind that all documents must be officially certified copies in the original language, as well as certified copies in Swedish or English by an authorized translator.

The deadline to submit documents for fall courses is April 20. Admissions Services (Antagningsservice) must have received (as described above) everything at that point.
Make sure not to send your CV before enrolling.

Enrollment fees and tuition

The deadline to verify that you are exempt from enrollment fees and tuition (for applicants outside the EU/EEA) is April 27, 2015.

Entry requirements

  • Diploma or degree certificate from coutries outside the EU
  • Assessment/evaluation of the foreign education from Socialstyrelsen (i e The Swedish Board of Health)
  • Swedish level 3 (i e senior high school)

All our supplementary programs are offered in Swedish and international students from outside Sweden pay a tuition fee.

Collaborating universities

Supplementary programs for doctors, dentists and nurses from abroad are also offered at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and Linköpings universitet (Supplementary medical program).

Lund University is not currently starting any supplementary programs for these groups.
