Application process

Application instructions

The Sahlgrenska Academy uses an online application form for incoming exchange students. Please note that you must be nominated by your home university before you can apply to us. The international coordinator at your university must have notified us about your nomination before you submit the application.

  • Create a user account. Fill in all required fields carefully as spelling errors such as an incorrect e-mail address may delay process. The application can be saved and you can make changes at a later stage if necessary.
  • Write what courses you are applying for under "Preferred subjects/modules to study at host institution". If you are going to carry out a thesis project, state what subject area you are interested in.

Upload following in your application:

  • Transcript of records (in English) containing all completed courses and grades prior to exchange.
  • A motivation letter – why do you want to study at the Sahlgrenska Academy and what are your main interests. If you plan to take courses taught in Swedish, please write your motivation letter in Swedish.
  • A CV including photo (in English or Swedish) containing relevant job experience, research, lab hours etc.
  • Proof of vaccines (in English)
  • Wishlist of courses (avaliable courses are found here)

Notification of selection results

After your application has been received and registered, you will receive more information from your international coordinator at Sahlgrenska Academy. You will receive notification of selection results within 4-6 weeks after the application deadline.

Nominated students from our partner universities are welcome to apply online.
