Dental Hygiene

About the programme

The programme in Dental Hygiene is a three-year programme (180 higher education credits). The programme provides the students with integrated knowledge and skills within oral health promotion, oral health behavior, oral hygiene, oral health administration, oral health care and preventive oral care. The programme comprises theoretical, practical and clinical elements as well as courses in scientific theory and research methods. The aim is to prepare the students to work as dental hygienists in hospitals, geriatric care, primary care and day centres.

Course for Dental Hygiene students

  • We offer a special designed course for exchange students from partner universities with the possiblity to visit different clinics at the Institute of Odontology. 
  • An interprofessional faculty course, Multicultural encounters and intercultural communication in healthcare, is offered in English each spring for interested exchange students (evening and part-time) in addition to below.

Swedish-speaking exchange students are welcome to apply for all courses within the programme - more information can be found on GUL, the University of Gothenburg's learning management system.

Unfortunately, we have no possibility accepting freemover* applicants to courses and clinical placements.

*A freemover is an international student who applies to a university abroad on his/her own, without beeing part of an exchange programme.
