Checklist for new students

As a new student it may be useful to have a look at the checklist for new students.

GU-card

All students stuyding courses are entitled to a GU access card.
The card can be ordered at any of the university's service centres after you have received your login to the Student Portal and have been registered at your course. The level of access is adjusted to which areas of the university you will conduct your studies.

Students taking part in clinical placements at a hospital or clinic will get a different card from the health care provider.

GUL/Canvas

In 2019, the student platform is changing from GUL to Canvas.

GUL is the students' teaching platform where all information about the programme and every course you are studying is published. The easiest way to access the platform is via the Student's Portal. Some pages at GUL are open to anyone interested and some are only available to registered students at the specific course.

Swedish course

During your first semester as an exchange student you can choose to study a part-time course in Swedish offered by the university.

T- number (unique ID number at GU)

Swedish citizens have a civic registration ID (a unique personal number) for identification. As an exchange student you get a fictive number in order to be registered on courses and have your results reported into the university's student records database Ladok, to get a library card, GU access card and so on.

The unique T-number/personal number is only valid at our university.
