The City of Gothenburg

Gothenburg, or "Göteborg" in Swedish, is the second largest city in Sweden. The city is closely located to the ocean and offers a great variety of culture, shopping, historic sites and much more! Good information about what to do, what to eat and how to get around the city you find at the city's official website.

Travel to Gothenburg and the University

In order to reach Gothenburg you can either arrive by train, bus or plane. The city has got one main airport, Landvetter. Airport buses leaves regularly to and from both airports.

University pick-up and Welcome week

The university offers pick-up service for exchange students at semester start every year on specific arrival days.

Faculty welcome reception

Every Aug/Sept and January/February the Sahlgrenska Academy invites all new exchange students and student buddies to a welcome reception held at the faculty. A light meal and an a opportunity to mingle with other Health sciences students as well as short introduction to the Swedish Health Care System will be offered.

Invitation will be sent to all incoming students by e-mail.
