Accepted students

Acceptance letters

Acceptance letters will be sent out approximately 2 months prior to the start of the exchange period.

Once you have been accepted you can relax and prepare your stay in Sweden. A lot of useful reading about Gothenburg and Sweden can be found below.

Academic year

AY 2019/20
Autumn semester 2019: 2 September – 19 January
Spring semester 2020: 20 January – 7 June

AY 2020/21
Autumn semester 2020: 31 August – 17 January
Spring semester 2021: 18 January – 6 June

Some educations programs may start earlier than the official term start.

Arrival and registration

Make sure you inform your international coordinator date and time of arrival. You will receive information in your admission letter where and when to meet with her/him in order to be registered.


Students studying at Sahlgrenska Academy come to us on different scholarship programs and instructions, scholarship levels and payment procedures will vary depending on your scholarship programme.

  • NORDPLUS - partner universities in Nordic countries (scholarship from coordinating institution).
  • ERASMUS - Partner universities in Europe (scholarship from home university).
  • ERASMUS +/International Credit Mobility - Partner universities outside Europe (scholarship from UGOT).
  • Linnaeus-Palme - Partner universities outside Europe (scholarship from department).


The demand for housing in Gothenburg is high and you must make sure you apply in time and accordin to deadlines. Student/campus housing for all exchange students cannot be guaranteed.

If you get housing contract, please check the dates in the agreement and compare with your study period in Sweden BEFORE you sign.
